Patricia Ann Farner, 86, of Mount Dora, passed away on Sunday, November 13th.  Pat touched the lives of everyone who knew her and was known for her motherly love, kindness, generosity, leadership and most of all, her dedication to her Lord, church, family and friends.  Pat was born on the 4th of July, 1925, in Johnstown, Pennsylvania.  Pat took dance lessons as a child and adult with Gene Kelly and had fun performing in her Uncle Eddie’s restaurant as a teenager.  After graduating from New Kensington High School in New Kensington, Pennsylvania, she received a scholarship to attend college.  She later moved to Baltimore, Maryland where she worked for Glen L. Martin Company (now Lockheed Martin) in the drafting department during World War II.  She returned to New Kensington to work as a supervisor for Bell Telephone and met and married her husband Lewis C. Farner.  She, her husband and five children moved to Tavares in 1969 where they owned and operated Tavares Mobile Home Park.  She and Lew moved to Mount Dora in 1992.

Pat was a long-time member of the First Presbyterian Church of Mount Dora where she served as a Sunday school teacher, Deacon, Elder and Trustee.  She was recently honored by the church for her lifetime service and for her contribution to the building committee.  She also served on the Tavares City Council where she was elected as the first female council president.  Pat was a member of the Tavares Women’s Club, served as President and was honored as Woman of The Year.  She was a past member of the Eastern Star in Pennsylvania and the garden club in Tavares.  Her most recent volunteer efforts were spent serving with the Women of Hospice in the Hospice Hope Chest store in Mount Dora where she assisted customers and purchased more than anyone else to give to her family and friends.  If you knew Pat, you most likely received some special item that she purchased for you while she was working her shift!

Pat is predeceased by her husband, Lewis Farner; parents, Lucille and Charles Adams; brother, Jeffrey Adams; and sister, Celeste Adams Leffler.  She is survived by her children, Mark Farner (Terry Ann), Fruitland Park; Kathleen Farner Thomas, Eustis; Bruce Farner (Kimberly), Slidell, Louisiana; Keith Farner (Betsy), Leesburg; Scott Farner (Cindy), Panama City; ten grandchildren, one great-grandchild, wonderful siblings, Charles and Peggy Adams, Tavares; John and Wanda Adams, Luray, Virginia; Monte Adams, Bellingham, Washington;   Rebecca and David Seirup, Anaheim California; and many loved nieces, nephews and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Pat’s name may be made to the building fund of the First Presbyterian Church of Mount Dora (222 West 6th Avenue, Mount Dora, FL 32757).  Visitation is from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 20th at Allen J. Harden Funeral Home in Mount Dora, (352) 383-8178.  A memorial service will take place at the First Presbyterian Church of Mount Dora on Monday, November 21st at 2:00 p.m.
